Just interested on if you guys work your bi's and tri's together in one workout or on separate days?. Id been working them together once a week, good pump and good growth. But lately i was told to work them on separate days. My shoulders and tri's together on Day 2 and my Lats and bi''s together on Day 4.

My question really relates to peoples experiences here on what works best for them. Both ways have worked good for me and ive found to get an any better pump working the bi's and tri's on separate days than together. Im wondering whether it will soon lead to overtraining or not as so many exercises work your bi's and tri's indirectly during the week.

I think everybody is different. A lot of people do a push/pull type of split and combine chest and tris, back and bis, since you've already hit them, but I've read a lot of guys combining chest and biceps together. I've never tried chest and bi together, so I can't comment on that.

I have usually done a 5-day split. Chest, Back, Legs, Shoulders, then arms. This looks like it could be inviting overtraining, but your tris get two full days rest between chest and shoulders. And its the same with biceps, two full days of rest between Back and Arms.
Arm day is more of a cleanup day, especially if my schedule makes it tough to get in the gym all 5 days. It's easy to hit ALL compound movements in my routine in just the 4 days.
I think changing up your routine after it gets stale will always be positive, so its tough to say whether you grow or not, just make sure you change it up one you plateau.

sholders and triceps sounds good.
but anyone worth their salt is already giving at least 12 to 16 hard sets of back, so your biceps are gonna be fried after that, and doing them afterward for whatever is just plain overkill

Personally I do Bi's with Chest and Tri's with Back. If I'm trying to prioritize arms though I'll throw in an extra workout of just arms. So after my usual split is finished I'll take a day off, then do arms together (usually more a "pump" workout), then take a day or two off and get back into my split.

Most importantly, listen to your body. You're young yet and us young guys have a lot to try before we realize what will work best for our bodies. It's also a good idea to keep trying new things just so your body doesn't get too comfortable with what you're doing. I say just keep doing what you're doing if it's working for you...when your progress slows, then either throw in an extra day like I have done or train them seperately. Best of luck.

I do my tris with hams and abs, all seperate as is said earlier you can be fried and doing too much, all my workout is structured so that each muscle is trained seperate to another major muscle - but working them together might work for you, i reckon give it a try for a few months and see how you get on.

I've tried a variety of routines. One muscle a day, whole body each session, and recently for quite a while I was doing Chest and tris and back and bis - this worked well for a while for me, but once it started to get really intense I found that by the time I get to my tris after chest (or shoulder) they were a lot weaker than if I were to train them on a seperate day, the same with back and bis.
Now I do arms together on shoulder day. As I only do 1 pressing movement for shoulders, my tris aren't overly worked and I can homestly say that I prefer this way of training. Not least in doing them together you get a great all over arm pump and the blood stays shuttled in that area throughout the entire workout!
But each his own - chances are after a while I'll need to change this routine too!

Thanks guys much appreciated. I agree with you peanut on the back and bi's together is overkill. I been getting a massive pump from this, more so than hitting tri's and bi's together. Thats what led me to the thought of overtraining. I think i will try what some of you said. The only real change is doing bi's with chest instead of with back, but i think your right in that it will make all the difference and i wont be overtraining the arms.

Thanks
