Okay guys, here's another subject - vascularity. I realise (I think) that this is mostly a diet thing, but there are some things I still wonder about:

1. What makes them stick out?

Don't bodybuilder's do something to make them stick out during routines & photoshoots? THey don't stick out that way all of the time, do they?? I know that diet is a big deal too. I am working on that presently. I'll have a super good diet real soon...

2. Is there something you do to make them bigger?

I've seen some bodybuilders that are vascular, with some their veins are there, but they are some. Some have some mega huge ones. Does that have someting to do with how you train?? I think that I'm going to have some good vascularity because I can see them trying to bust out, but they are just not there yet. Any pointers?

3. Do they cause problems??

Some bodybuilders look like they have so many veins, or that they are so big that they could actually hurt! When they flex, they squirm around like snakes. That has to at least feel weird. Does it?? Also, I would worry that I'd bleed to death if I brushed against a bush. Okay, maybe that sounds weird to ask, but surely it's easy to cut yourself and have some severe bleeding, no? Actually, there is a gal, Sherry Smith, that has some mega vascularity. It is very intriguing on her, well, even sexy...

Thanks again in advance!! I hope you don't think I'm a freak for asking some of these things!

To be honest I'm not an expert on this but I'll tell you what I believe to be so and someone can pick me up on it. I'll be answering these all out of order aswell!
Vascularity to a great extent is all down to your genetic makeup - either you are gonna have huge wriggly worm veins or you aren't, which is why you see some BBers with loads and others with not so many - when they are at the top of their game it's nothing to do with one being better than the other in this respect, it's just how they are made up (check out Paul Dillet's chest for wriggly worms!)
Being vascular doesn't cuase problems in of itself but by being cascular you have a low bodyfat percentage which is hard to maintain in possibly detrimental to increasing your muscle mass - vascularity is really only something you wanna dial in when you're cutting.
The way that pro's bring it out for competitions is purely their diet. The last few days/weeks of pre contest diet is almost wholly protein I blieve and then the night before ( I think) they will have something like a jacket potato and that influx of carbs just brings those worms out! I don't know the science behind it, but that's what I understand anyway!

Vascularity is highly genetic, but you can still do all you can to make it shown. Low body fat, increased levels of nitric oxide, minimal water retention ect. Drop sets also do wonders bringing out vascularity.

Thx for the comments. Is there any way to get the veins to stick out "on demand"? Meaning, if I'm going somewhere and I want to impress someone, I want get them to stand out proudly to show off!
