my plan is to go to the gym ..first thing in morning on empty gut and bring something small to eat with me...hop on the cross trainer for 1hour and get off eat and then lift..im biggest problem is getting rid of a bit of fat around the gut this time of year..its not much but makes wearing a tank top look bad..these days im stuck wearing xxlarge shirts to cover up..right now im not as bad as lee priest is off season but i do get a gut if im not careful..so does anyone think going on the crosstrainer first will trim my down...what should i bring for a quick bitbefore workout....maybe peanut butter???..something more carbs???

Hey bro, could you post more information that would greatly help. Age, weight, bf%. Also, the most important thing would be to see your diet meal by meal.

im 44..6ft..232ibs with around fat % high teens..train 6days aweek and have done this since 1997..i spend fall and winter lifting heavey while eat lots of steak, burgers, fries,"all of the lee priest stuff" and around feb or march i start going on the cross trainer and try to cut up abit.eating chicken..rice..vegs..etc..its the dam gut area which is the hardest..i can clearly see top abs and almost center abs but right now lower
abs are covered up...i dont have no health problems and can out lift and workout longer then the young 20 year old guys.

i figured i could try to use this plan of mine of a while to see what happens..

noticed people like jay cutler go on the machine with empty guts...my gym is too far away for me to go there and come back later..im on foot and it takes me 45mins to get there...and in maine usa in the winter time it can take up to 60mins during snow storms to get there...

thanks

Still not enough info, id like to see something like:

Meal 1: 8:00 AM
1 cup oatmeal
4 eggs
glass of orange juice

9:30 AM
cardio for 45 mins, heart rate is at 120

12:00
1 ham and cheese sandwich

Etc. Im not saying follow what i just said, but lay out your whole day like that. You should NEVER eat like Lee Priest does off season, youd be far better off keeping to eat clean but eating a lot more. That will just make you put on useless fat, and that sounds like that is the case with you.

Lee Priest is a heavily gentically gifted athelete who's body can tolerate such intake of heavy fats etc. in the off season.
Remember, Pro's use 'supplements' to aid weight loss in conjunction with high amounts of CV exercise....hence they obtain dramatic bf% reductions and cut up in the time that they do.

Categorise, in as much detail as you can, time of meals, what the meals contain, workout plan, sleep patterns, supplements you are using etc and someone far more knowledgable than myself (like hdogg35 above) will aid you as best as they can.

Bets of luck in your quest mate

vampire dude, I wouldn't go on what ppl like Jay Cutler do, because as people know guys like him are in a league of their own, their methods come from years of nutrition and traning knowledge. I would say do what feels right for you and listen to your body, the best peace of advice I could give is what my trainer once told me which is to always keep it fresh and try new things otherwise the gym won't be a passion or hobby but a chore like going to work or washing the damn dishes. Peace, and good luck bro

ur bf% is quite high to get it down as far as cardio u should do it first thing in the morning with a cup of black cofee and some amino acids. do ur cardio for like 35- 45 min. eat a meal right after 1 cup of oatmeal made with water, and some splenda as a sweetner have 5 to six egg whites and two scoops of protein, and a bannana. i like to mix this all up in a bowl nice and warm and very good. along with that take some flax seed oil, and a multi v. wiat 30 min and then train.

Hey all,
I have searched the fiorums and seen countless info about HIT Cardio but none about a good amount of calories or minutes to burn while doing HIT. I am currently trying to put on size and plan on doing very minimal (if any) cardio in the need three weeks I'm 5'8, 165 pounds so its not like I risk becoming fat if I ditch the cardio and up the calories. My question is is 3-5 HIT cardio sessions a week enough for say 16-20 minutes for a cutting phase? Also is there an ideal number of calories to burn when doing HIT there is this machine at my gym I can prolly burn between 200-260 calies in 16 minutes of HIT cardio, is that effective? Should I also utilize other machines? Thanks everyone-
