Hello friends at BBD...I have a quick question about back training.

My lats are of decent size in proportion to my whole physique, however it seems as if my lower part of the lats are recieving less stimulation. In other words, I don't really have a "cobra-like flair" when I do a lat spread or if I am in a relaxed position.

Can anybody give me some advice on how I could better stimulate the lower part of my lats, in order to give the illusion of bigger, arched heads?

When doing a single arm dumbbell row, rather than bringing it straight up and down at your side, bring it up in a slow arc towards your hip and really focus it in the lower part of your lat. This might help! Make sure you keep you back good and arched aswell!

I dont think keeping your lower back arched is a good idea. A lot of this has to do w/ genetics and/or you just dont have the size yet. what i mean, is that once your lats get so big, then you will eventually get that cobra like taper. however, i started doing iso-rows on the hammer strength and i can honestly say that you feel that throughout your entire lats. i even get a stretch in my lower lat area. try DB rows and try iso-rows and see what happens. but either way, you have to do deadlifts. nothing works back better than deadlifts.

I always do all back work with a slight arch in my back, puts the lats in a mechanically stronger position plus puts your back at less injury prone position. Get a fuller contraction this way aswell imo. Although Diesels right, it may just be down to genetics as to the degree to which you'll get that shape! And deffo on the deadlifts too!

Try doing a few sets of straight arm pressdowns followed by close underhand grip chins. Keep the shoulders back. You should feel that.

yes def genetics but i read before about dorian's style of underhanded barbell rows although his body was nearlystanding up normally and he rowed for his lower lats. also seen pics of arnold training lower areas by lower one arm pulley work, rather than rowing in he'd row in and turn his body slightly to the working side like turn around and contract. but by working your lower area arent you going to take away from your V taper??
