Lee labrada, Matt duagle. There was a flex issue on these men a couple of months ago. Try and get hold of it.

If you want to use this methord. Tried it a few times While BB!

It's not easy and when Mentzer suggested that you need to recover 7 days latter he was not kidding.

Go to Bodybulding.com there are loads of work out samples. Also try blood and guts by yates. His work out is on his website as well.

Personally I have not had much success with it but it depends on your muscle composition. I respond better to Heavy/ middle range reps. You might be diffrent.

It was obvious for me now to train that way even when I was younger people commented on how quick I was when I used to do Judo and Pointsparring as a kid.

Think of sports that you excelled in as a child. eg long distance runner maybe leans towards HIT fast track sprinter Low reps heavy? I don't no it all depends on you!

Like most of us just experiment! and good luck I hope you gain a ton of muscle :)

personally I've done H.I.T. the Mentzer way. And I gotta say, it works. It changed my vision towards bodybuilding very positively. A couple of years ago I was training with very much volume instead of intensity, and wasted energy on too many light sets before going to the last heavy set of an exercise. That last set is the key to musclegrowth, so why do so many sets if only the last set is productive? That's what most people do not understand. I grow 2 times faster with half the sets I used to train with a couple years ago. And why? because I go fresh and powerfull into that last set in an exercise.

I'm very much experimenting now with nutrition and training, currently I'm doing a Dorian Yates like routine. But with less exercises than he did because I'm of course natural and I must be aware of overtraining.

For example:

mondays:

Back;

1 pull-ups. 2 sets; 1st set 8 reps, second set weighted pull-ups as many as possible (6/10 reps)

2 bent over barbell rowing; 2 sets; 1st set light preparation 6/8 reps (normally 6), second set heavy weight with 6/8 reps (to failure)

3 reverse grip pulldown. 2 sets; 1st set light preparation 6 reps, second set heavy and to failure (6/10 reps)

total sets for back: 6, with only 3 working sets

Chest;

1 incline bench press. 3 sets (because of the build-up to a heavy weight) ; 1st set light weight 8 reps, second set moderate weight 6 reps, last set heavy and to failure (6 to 8 reps)

2 cable crossover. 2 sets; not too heavy, just to feel it burn and to pump blood into the chest. both sets 10/12 reps and the second set I do heavier though.

3 flat bench dumbell press. 2 sets; 1st set preparation 6 reps, second set heavy and to failure (6/8 reps)

total sets for chest: 7, with only 2/3 working sets.

So that's how I do it now. You asked for some info, maybe this will help, maybe not. It works for me though.

good luck

I did a very similar routine for some time a la Dorian with only one main set and I made good progress, but have now added a second main set. Psychologically only doing one main set to failure appeals to me because you can put your all into it without thinking you've gotta go through it a second time, but after a while (like most routines) you reach a plateau. Definately a good way to train but when you hit a wall, change it about - even if only a little bit to keep your body guessing.

By the way "Slyizlegend" - damn right! Hope the new Rocky film is good!

You made some good points there bro. You should definitely mix things up after a while.

And yeah, Rocky VI has gotta be good. Sly looks great. I can't wait to see a Rocky movie in the cinema. I get goosebumps already when I think about it. I hope it contains a great trainingsequence again. Rocky II and IV training scenes are legendary. It still motivates me the most.

I know this is the wrong thread to be talking about this, but hey! Rocky IV - the nuts!
Can't believe Adrian is dead in the next one though! I'm with you on the training sequence! He's in fantastic shape for someone turning 60 next year!

Yeah it's a shame that Adrian, Micky and Apollo can't be in it again. Paulie will be in it again. And I heard rumours that Vin Diesel will be in it. But I don't believe that. I just don't see Vin in a Rocky movie. I don't think he is an interesting actor. A better villain than Drago just cannot be found again. That man was on fire!

HIT sucks and that's all there is to it. The gains you get of HIT you'd probably get twice as much from some other program.

Blood and guts, however, is a completely different story. When you hear them say that Dorian works with high intensity, don't think HIT: that comparison couldn't be more wrong. Dorian simply does a pyramid, only all the sets are done quite short of failure, being only warmups (to conserve strength) and on the last set he works beyond failure (has someone help him lift, say, 6 times a weight that he could only lift 3-4 alone). That's basicly a max effort sort of thinking, only with more volume. (he works up to a 6 or so rep max instead of only a 1 or 2 rep max).

thanks guys i think i didnt mention that i've already started H.I.T training from mike mentzer book. im using his routine . but how can i know if im not overtraining?

because if i just went to the positive falure i dont feel so much burn

but if i REALLLLY went to the positive, static and negative in one exercise and just positive in the other for one muscle group i feel the burn foor one week(im still have some burn in my chest from my previous workout) but isnt that over training?
