I tried it once but it placed too much stress on my lower back as compared to the conventional squat. Might try it again when my back's fully healed.

how did you do it? today i done it on the smith machine had to get my training partner to turn the bar outwards so the hooks wouldnt crash into the safety nodes. today i put 170lb on the bar i can do more but just with the bar in across the elbow joint i found it difficult to load on any more weight
did you use smith machine or free barbell how low did you go

Hi peanut how's it goin, have been goin to gym at different times so have missed out on seenig you there.
This Zercher Squat, is this the real name for the front squat??
If so, I like them they place good stress on the quads and less emphasis on the arse. Get used to them on the Smith Machine then move to the squat rack, form is far more important with these then weight.
I only went to parallel but do not lock out knees at the top. Use that black rubber roll plus a towel around the bar if required. You can't lift well and consentrate if you are feeling discomfort somewhere else.......well I can't anyway LOL yeah I know I'm a big girl.

hey man lol kindai dunno how to explain
regular squat is well u know it
then front squat pretty much the same but the bar is across your clavicles
zercher is ok imagine standing just behind a barbell. it has to be about your elbow height. then walk up to it, and wrapp your arms around and under the bar so its as if you're "hugging" it in a way, then stand up, and holding the bar like across your abdomen within your arms, then squat

just for something different
i found a pic for you mate check out just below half way the page

lmfao yeah but see then he tells u go to out and buy a sledgehammer to train forearms, then you're buying wood to make the squat rack, money for the nails/screws/other equipment to make all of this stuff lol man just pay the gym membership fee!
gotta give him points for creativity tho, and esp. like his "rocky" style sit ups lol

I've tried them more than once and didn't realy like them. Too hard to keep the bar in place (elbows realy start to hurt after a while) and can't go very deep with a close stance (elbows will touch the knees).

And if you can't do squats nor front squats (can't you at least unrack out of a bench and step back? That's what I do...) do hack squats (deads with the bar behind your shins, also shown on that page).
