I agree w/ Ben. I just think this is yet another "new and advanced workout" that is total bullshit.

Total bullshit indeed. Too risky for injury. I don't even know why a credible mag would put in an article like that?
Could you imagine walking into your gym with your workout partner and starting with your max on squats? Or deads? Your knees and back would be shot to hell!

I have been doing something like that.

Sort of like this:

12 reps @ 115-135 warmup
3 sets of 3 reps on the way up
3 sets of 2 reps @ 2RM (testing near max) 2 minutes rest
4-5 sets @ 65% 1RM 1 minute rest

I like this and have been moving up a while too.

.... I know it's weird for me to say this, but if your in a bulking phase this reverse pyramid may do some good simple because there's more fat around the joints. But for me, with a bodyfat of around 15-20% I can't risk hurting my tendons. That may not be an extremely low bodyfat, but for me, any bodyfat percentaged higher than that my joints are ready to go, no matter the case.

Youre fresh and able to use all your existing muscle fibers and energy. Since your muscles and energy are at their best for the first set you will be stronger than if you used the same weight for the last set using the conventional pyramid.

I like the way that is set up. I do something close to that now cuz i don't have a training partner. So it is easier for me to start out heavy and as my strength goes down i can still get a good workout. I warm up light and then go heavy and then pyramind down always trying to get at least 6-8 reps and do 3-4 sets depending on the movement.

A lot of times I use a method similar to the reverse pyramid because of what fallen and philosopher said...I dont have a spotter and I want to push myself without risking hurting myself while doing my heaviest weight on a final set. Of course I always warm up well. Ive seen good results doing this personally.
