Like Serbmarko said, you can use the basketball as your cardio. Since your heart rate is probably changing(while staying elevated) throughout the course of your 45 minute match, you can almost think of basketball as interval training. If your goals were gaining 10 lbs of muscle by January 1st I would be careful not to elevate your heart rate too high for any extended length of time,but if you are just looking to gain some muscle mass and stay lean, Basketball will be fit into your goals.
BTW?? Do you have any specific muscle gain goals?
