Haven't done them in a while either because they tend to f*ck up my elbows.
I just use a DB in each hand and it doesn't hurt my elbows at all.

Like most variations of exercises, I think alternating between the two bars can be useful. Personally, I have found more success using a olympic bar laying backwards on a bench, but I substitute the EZ curl bar every once in a while to add some variation to my workouts. I believe biomechanically there is vary little advantage to one bar over the other although like I perviously stated alternating between the two could stimulate different muscle fibers due to the change in grip angle.

i dont have any resources to back this up but; from what i know when you use the olympic bar it places your hands in an akward position which will hit the triceps a lot better than the EZ bar. same concept when doing biceps. I dont do skull crushers as of now, last time i did them my elbows felt funky. I would still do the olympia bar and EZ bar just to mix it up. you should be able to do more weight w/ the EZ bar.

i agree you with you diesel. i can do a lot more weight with the EZ bar and i feel that it puts more stress on my elbows than if i use an olympic bar.

I sometimes use the pre-weighted straight bar.
But usually i stick to an EZ bar with the inside grip.

My left tri is smaller and weaker so I use dumbells. I do a set with my right arm (strong one) then I do a set with my left and make sure I get the same number of reps, even if I have to take a break inbetween
