it depends. how much cardio do you want to do (duration, how often). depending on how much cardio you want to do and the intensity level it can actually help your gains. but, if you do too much, then it will only hurt your gains.

Cardio eats away at my mass like crazy but it doesn't impact on my strength very much at all. Then again, I do a hell of a lot of it.

It's very difficult to answer that question, everyone is different and I doubt that any of us know enough about you and your body to give you an accurate breakdown. Try going for a 40 minute uphill walk (about 60-70% of maximum heart rate) 4 times a week. If you see yourself losing muscle mass, then perhaps you need to re-evaluate your diet and try take in a few more calories.

Yea i agree, its tough to say how much cardio you should be doing. everyones body is different and can handle different amounts of cardio. all you can do is experiment and see what happens. If it was me I would start off pretty light w/ the cardio, slowly work your way up w/ intensity and when you start to notice you lose gains and mass, then back down a little bit. that way you can find the right amount of cardio you can do and still gain muscle

Depending on if you do HIT cardio or LIT cardio you will lose from both but to just maintain your size i'd do LIT you will lose more muscle with High Intensity

Avoid cardio in the morning on an empty stomach. As far as your question, any activity that requires calories will take away form strength and size. This is one reason Pro's try to live a "low stress" life. A couple sessions, 30 minutes a week wont hurt though, and are good for cardio health.

First, Im assuming you mean pre contest.Second Coleman also takes large amounts of drugs, probably a few that control cortisol. And he eats a lot of Cornbread. And he falls when he tries to run in flippers on the beach. What pros say they do usually does not work for most people. If it did, there would not be a need for a site like this, as Flex and Muscle and Fitness would have all the answers.

If you are concerned about muscle loss and strength, cortisol would be your biggest enemy. Cardio on an empty stomach will raise cortisol.

Best cardio for cutting?

OK that's fine SMBTGTGTHR but I believe bombdigiity was asking if cardio affects muscle maintenance. So I think Eli80's response was correct keeping that in mind. :25:
