I saw this exercise in the new edition of FLEX. It was under the new GUNTOR article. I tried it and it was a hell of an exercise. Here it is for all of you who missed it.

Perform this exercise with 50-100% more weight then you use on regular side laterals. (I used only 10-15% more and it worked as well.) Hold the DB's down by your side. Now pull your elbows up in a type of rowing motion, but your forearms stay perpindicualr to the ground so you are only working your shoulders.

Try it and let me know what you think!

That's laterals the way powerlifters do them (with cheat and swing). Meh, they work, but I don't know if they're better than normal laterals. I personaly like them (specialy on an high incline bench, try this and I guarantee it'll beat the shit of your rear-side delt, that area that is usualy so damn hard to work) since it's easier to keep increasing the poundages. On strict laterals it takes forever to add 5lbs.

I do these occasionally, it's a similar exercise to the upright row. It allows you to work heavy and cheat a little. Not so good for inducing a burning sensation in the muscles though (buildup of lactic acid). I'll never start with this exercise though, if I do it, I will finish off my shoulders with it.

Well I did it right after DB shoulder presses and it worked perfect. It burned mine up! But as with all exercises, some work better for others.

To make it very hard, do not pull your wrists in, try to keep your forearms as perpindicular (Straight up and down) as possible.
