For some people BTN are out of the question. For others (such as myself), they're awesome. I can actualy do about as much weight as I do in front, and they feel pretty comfortable. I think it's just a matter of having good shoulder flexibility and starting out light to let your shoulders get used to the ROM. As for the question: in front typicaly hits the front delt harder, and btn hits the side delt harder. Eyther way, no, it's not overkill. I swear people are more and more afraid of volume these days.
