alright i was sitting home last night after working out and thinking about how when i started lifting about 8 years ago there were mostle free weights and now i look around MOST gyms and see alot of machines and less free weight stuff ....i am more of a person to use free weights as much as i can unles i need some help with my form or i just use a machine for a few weeks to get a good idea of how my form should be , i think that free weights is the way to go and i like the "oldschool" stuff better .... what does everyone else think , i also see alot more people who do not know what they are doing use the machines then using the free weights..... so what do you guys thing about all of this....
I do mostly freewieghts and then ill do machine stuff here and there. With me, i have noticed that since im able to go heavier on machines, my other lifts will increase. Since you dont have to worry about stabalizer muscles on machines, you can just focus on the muscle you want to work. For most of my workouts, i will include one workout w/ a machine. but other than that its freeweights.
due to lack of machines in my gym .. i do most parts of my workouts with free wieghts .. u just can't ignore them from your way to gain soild mass .. they are basics
i'll blast the shit out of whatever i'm workin that day with free weights, and then finish up with a couple machines.
ditto....use up ur power movements and once ur stabilizers are too fatigued for max weights then hop on a machine and keep blasting it....variety is always good to
I think free weights are the way to go, but I bet you anything that if you are doing incline bench presses with free weights your arms are going to fail before your chest does. That is where I think machines come in play. I use more machines and cables come contest time, but that is just me. It is whatever your body responds to.
I've always made free-weights the core of my routine. Although, like some others I've tended to move away from barbell pressing movements favouring dumbells instead.
