My traps have really come up during the last couple of years. I noticed a big change once I started heavy dumbell shrugs. By isolating the muscle using hand straps I can foucus on the muscle and not worry about my grip giving out. I work them out at least twice a week 6 sets of 10 reps. We (training partner) work them at the end of our back routine. Go heavy, be consistent, dont forget to warm up!

couldnt agree more....and u can do shrugs with plenty of wieght....but heve u ever thout and heard from almost all over that the compound movments r best 2 gain mass 2 old school way...but i found that couple of muscles that alot of people including me do from them iolation movments like for calves those raises and i dont really think that there is an compound movment for calves unless prolly u use your quads...and traps were many people do shrugs which is an isolating movment but the compound movment for traps is close grip upright rows am not saying that this is better than that and do this and dont do that...u no wut i mean...so am thinking like if u can handle more wight on shrugs for traps then y not do bent over shrugs for back an u can handle more wight...i mean i dont do this exersice but all wut i wanted 2 say is just 2 look at some exersice from a diffrent point of u....but as we all no that most of the isolation exersice work better acording 2 the emg which is scince and somhow a good refrence but i also still think that the old school way work pretty good in compination 2 scince...and sometimes u can handle more wight on isolation movments like shrugs than on compound movment like upright rows and vica verse.....

seated incline shrugs arent too bad as well layin chest first on an incline bench and doin shrugs. this will thicken up your traps and back

ok prolly i ment like if u gonna do bb shrugs and forget about the colse grip bb upright rows for traps...then how about doing bent over bb shrugs instead of bent over bb rows for back or do both wut u think....wich will b more effective in this case the isolation movments like shrugs and in this case it will make u train with more wight than on the compound movments like rows which will somehow will not let u trian with as much wight as the shrugs...hop u understood...tell me wut ya think......so which is better in this case isolation movent or the compound movments.... .....

I agree with you to a point. Compound movements pushing the heaviest possible weight are superior to packing on "all around" size. I mention the isolation movement of dumbell shrugs to concentrate on the traps in particular. If you have good size, but want to bring up your traps in particular, try the dumbell shrugs.

I always do machine shrugs / sm shrugs it works good for me
goes really heavy and with straps
deadlift and shrugs are the only exercises I use straps for now
