On the weekends usually early Sunday morning (on an off day) I do like 20 reps each of just body weight squats/push-ups/pull-ups/tri-push downs and what not just to get a good pump in those muscles on an off day.

Would that have any negative effects in terms of muscle growth? I try not to do it but I just like to for some odd reason. I have all Sunday to rest then I start my 4day split back up on Monday.

It might not be bad at all, but remember you need to rest at least 2 days a week for recovery. Jay Cutler used to do something like that when he was preparing for a contest. He would workout his whole body once or twice a week.

i think it wouldn't have negative effects but i wouldn't do it. on youre off day let the muscle rest. if you do it for recovery be sure that you dont train the muscle heavy but try to make more reps so the muscle becomes full of blood.

Thats exactly what I do. This is also done late Saturday night and my last workout was on Friday so I have had about 2 days to rest the last muscle trained. I just do 1 set of 20 reps each for the parts just to get some blood in them.

Thanks for the info guys, much appreciated!

Then you're good, just make sure not to overwork them.
