I was doing glute ham raises today and every rep I did it just felt like the muscle was extremely tight and stretched. Mainly when I was going down on the rep. Even with no weight it still hurt. Is this just because my muscles need to be stretched more or something? I stretch sometimes but I'd like to be able to do glute ham raises next workout. Should I just stretch until then and hope it works, is there anything else I can do?

Goals by August 2010:

Bench:275

Deadlift: 425
A 150x8 DB row would be cool too.

Sounds like they are tight.

I had the same feeling all summer.. They were so tight, when I was sprinting, it honestly felt like they could snap. It was uncomfortable as hell (and somewhat scary). The weird this was I stretched them ALL the time. BUT never lying down with a straight leg to ensure my back was straight. My hammies were tight up near my butt as well, and it was tough to stretch those out.. ZiR pointed me in the right direction:

make sure to keep you back flat and legs straight... see if that helps.

That sounds good, so you were in the same boat I'm in and you're passing on the info from Zir. I'll try doing some stretches like that. Did they help you?

Not sure if these will help or not.. I was stretching a lot, but never lying down with my back straight... ZiR and I were talking about something else and I brought this up to him and he suggested this..

Honestly, since the summer season ended, I haven't sprinted so I'm not really sure if this helped...

Just suggesting something to try....

yea u can try that. u can also try a little warm up on bike or elliptical before so you can get ur muscles a little looser before you actually start to stretch. U dnt need to add too much resistance so that your legs are tired after, jus enough so u can let ur legs/hamstrings get prepared for whats to come.
