Layne uses it and he give an explanation about what it is an how often to use it....

basically for leg extension ( example) you put wraps around your upper thigh,,, then do low weight but high volume..it restricts the blood flow to the leg...but gives you a pump..

its done while deloading mostly to give your joints a brake and (cant) be done for a long period of time it could be dangerous. It tricks your muscles making them think there lifting heavy weight.

It does not "trick" your muscles. Your muscles cannot be tricked or confused.

Anyhow, there is a lot of research being done with vascular occlusion or KAATSU training. It results in huge increases in GH and IGF-1 following the training.

If you plan to try it, you NEED to do it under medical supervision, or with a trained professional. You can cause serious damage if you do not occlude to the correct pressure.

Predominantly vascular damage. If you fully restrict blood flow, then by training increase blood pressure and output, you can cause damage to the vascularity of the occluded area.

One of my class mates is doing occlusion training for her thesis research, if you want, when I see her next week, I'll get some more in depth studies and medical reviews regarding the application and use of occlusion.

No that's alright,I was wondering because I watched Unleashed by Layne Norton,,oh 3 times... taking notes and stuff.. He uses this technique...doesn't say much on it...just what it does and how often it should be used and not used...The only body part he used it on was legs. Leg extensions to be exact...

Yup, thats the exercise most commonly used in research.

Also, Layne has the academc background and training to safely and effectively use the technique.
