Over the summer i got things situated and filled out all the paperwork to join the marines, i officially joined back in october. My original ship date was april 20th, but just this morning has been bumped up to january 12th. I know theres prolly nothing i should do. But being on the routine i am, is there anything i could do/should do to myself to better myself for this adventure? I know boot camp is basically 4 months of working out but in the mean time while im still here, is there ANYTHING i should do? Or just chill out or watever and keep doing all my same stuff. And i know this isnt the nutrition forum but it goes along with what im saying. But is there anything different i should do to my diet along with training within these next few weeks before i leave? Any help would be awesome bros!

Yeah start doing cardio, push ups, sit ups, pull ups. Get used to running AT LEAST 5 miles every day. Your cardio will determine how well you do. Then just make sure you are getting enough calories.

absolutely freak, lots and lots of running. do plenty of stretching exercises to aviod injury. one other i found very useful. ankle turns, elevate your foot and rotate your foot clock-wise and counter-clock wise 10 times in both directions. do this at this 4-5 times a day. the biggest injury in boot camp is sprained ankles, this little exercise will help limber up your ankle possibly avoiding an injury. learned this while i was in the air force. good luck marine. god bless ya.

if you believe what your grandpa says, then i'm highly affended. this shows how ignorant your grandpa is as to the roles of each of the armed services. i'm very proud of my service time. maybe you both need a military history lesson.

Surely a generalization but most Marines are arrogant. You are serving our country together regardless of which branch of the military you choose.

Thank you for your service to our country! May God bless you wherever you get stationed.

I just got out of the service after 8 years and miss it a bit. Hopefully you'll have as many wonderful memories as I do. Take care.

i will be going to san diego. i really cant wait. one thing i am kinda afraid about is the fact that im on this certain routine....but then when i get there...my body is going to go into total shock from not eating what i always not, no supps, no nothin. but we will see. it will be worth it.

Actually what ive been doing the past few days and plan on doing the remaining days im here is splitting my cardio and weight lifting. Ill do an hour of cardio in the morning, then hit the weights at night. And yea ive been worried about all that weight loss. Im not a huge guy, but i have some mass. Im 5 7ish, and around 160 with like 8% BF (thats prolly a little high of an estimate). And i have been eating a bit more actually for that reason, just cuz my body is going to have this shock brought on to it from the sudden change in everything. But i plan on continuing my routine when im done with boot camp, basic combat and MOS training.
