I agree with all of you in a lot of points, however. I feel more muscle fiber stimulation when I am doing decline triceps extensions compared to close grip bench presses. I feel that doing close grip BP puts a lot of stress on my front delts and chest still, so I'm not getting the most out of my exercise. I like to do a compound first, like the bench press, and then branch it off, I'll do flyes next, triceps extensions next followed by front dumbbell shoulder raises. So I'm isolating the primaries and the secondaries after a basic compound movement
No, doing arm work is not a must... However, I think it would be foolish to settle for just compounds for your arms. If your doing a back exercise, and then do shrugs, why not hit your biceps as well to give them all an even workout? I won't do as many sets for arms, but I always make sure to hit them up with at least 2-5 sets. |
