Hey guys,
I train shoulders and traps together (traps always after I hit delts) and was wondering if 8 sets for traps is over traning? I usually do for example in workout one :
db shrugs 5x6
Behind back shrugs 3x8-15
then reverse week 2:
behind back shrugs 5x6
db shrugs 3x8-12
My question is is 8 sets too many I have seen good results but was wondering maybe I should just pick barbell or dumbell and roate each week doing 5 sets for traps in a workout instead of 8 is this okay or should I stick with 8 using two excercises? thanks !

how much do you deadlift dude? IF you want really big traps along with allowing your whole body to grow all you have to do is deadlift and build up your poundages.
once you are at least deadlifting 500 you will have some impressive traps.
nothing else is needed

i don't focus on traps movements .. deadlift is the perfect traps exercise .. i do a heavy lift in deads .. and my traps look thick when i flex it

If its owrking, and your not overtrained, then its not too much. Try 5 sets, and see if it works. Everybody is different.

Does everyone do traps on shoulder days? I'm thinking of splitting mine off to a different day.

Here's something that sounds odd when doing traps, but I found it to be amazingly effective.

When doing shrugs, don't stand up prefectly straight. Keep your back straight but crane your neck way forward (don't injure yourself). Then focus on bringing your shoulders up behind your head, don't try bring them up to your ears. I don't know why this works, but it works for me.

I agree with keeping your chin tucked down it makes a big difference you might not be using as much weight. another thing is to make sure you let the weight stretch all the way down and squueze for a second on the top

why do my traps hurt like crazy. i mean its the neck area and when ever i do say barbel curls or shoulder laterals my traps really hurt. it feels as if they are strained. also when craying grocery bags or my gym back the traps kill alot. also my shoulders are very bad and been that way for a while. i think i have bursitis or something. any thoughts?
