Ok i know that your body needs rest, DEMANDS rest, REQUIRES REST! But am i the only one out there who feels that on off days, they should be in the gym? What do you guys do on off days as far as what you eat? Do you not eat as much..? Eat different things? What about timeing of off days. Do you take the same off days each week? Or do you basically fit them in when you feel like it? I try to go 3 days on, rest, 2 days on rest, and so on. I just want to know what my fellow gym rats do?

Yeah I feel that way a lot too on some off days. Do you use lifting weights also as a way to get out your frustration and aggression? That's what I do, and I think that has a lot to do with it.
On off days I would say eat significantly fewer calories.

Well for my powerlifting diet on days I don't lift that gives me more time to eat so I eat more on off days. I wouldn't suggest that for bbers, but for me it's eat all that I can. I do 2 on 1 off and always have. If the muscle is still sore or stiff that I'm supposed to be working that day then I take another day off.

Listen to your body if you're sore don't lift if not... well don't take extra off days of course but do still take the off days even if you're not sore don't go 4-5 days straight or anything.

I remember the first year I started I said why take a day off I'm doing a three day split my muscles recover on the days when I'm not working them. Which is true to an extent but the CNS doesn't recover making each week be harder and slower for your body to recover.

yea for sure you need to have the rest days, look at them more in terms of recovery days instead, keeping the desire to be in the gym everyday is your motivation, and if you dont give your self the time off, your going to eventually get burnt out on the whole lifting scene, trust me, i`ve been there, done that, i actually look forward to a day off just so when i get back to my next workout i`m fully recovered and more than ready to hit the next routine..

I enjoy the rest days because I push myself hard when I lift and it's nice to relax and play my guitar. Well the day after deads my hands are sore but other than that I jam out. I also do cardio on my off days- especially in spring and summer when I go out mountain biking.
