ok guys i really never notice a bodybuilders forearm while they on stage... so how important are they to winning? is it something i should work on or do they get enough work from your other lifts?

On stage its not what you have, it what you dont have, so something you are lagging could be picked on by judges. If u think they are a weak point and tamper with your comp placing, ill train em. Nothing wrong with training them though. But usualyy forearms size is relative to arm size

They are worked enough by other lifts. I feel it mainly in deads SLDLs and heavy shrugs. If you do want to strengthen them (which is a good idea) do farmer's walks.

If I remember I throw in a few sets of them a week. Wh not? Sure they get work from other exercises but why not train just them. Don't over do it though but it won't hurt to do some forearm exercises once a week.

I work mine...ahhh.. one or twice a week depending on my schedule.. For me its not just for bodybuiling, but for working on the engine, rescue and the tools on the trucks.. the stuff is heavy and ackward.. Strong forearms and arms are just plain good. lol

I'm not saying don't train them at all, I'll throw in a couple sets of forearm or wrist curls on bicep day if I have the chance. I like the way you hit them in other exercises though farmers walks are a favorite.

I never train mine. No need, they will grow in time along with the arms on basic movements of curls, pull downs, chins etc...I think I've only trained forearms once or twice in my 9-10 years I been training, it's pointless IMO. My forearms are around 15" atm, so I can most probably safely say, you don't need to do exercises for them as they relate & grow with overall arm mass

i see guys at the gym using the machine for grip strength, sometimes in the middle of their workouts..being somewhat new to this i may not be right, but couldnt that be counterproductive in the sense that theyd kinda waste valuable grip strength needed for other various lifts in order to push/pull some big weight??
