stretching hips

My Coach for football tells me i got good feet but my hips are to tight.

so i was wondering what kind of stretching i could do to losen them

I have two thoughs on this...

try stretching your hip flexors. If you don't know what they are just google it.

However, I don't think that is what your coach meant. I have heard coaches tell a bunch of guys that there hips are to tight but they never meant stretching wise. More often than not, they are referring to the fact that you don't open your hips enough when you are in a back pedal or you don't have enough fluid motion in your cuts. In other words, your hips are "tight," or don't move quickly enough. That would be my guess to what he meant.

I could be wrong though.

well i can tell you he doesnt mean in backing pedaling because im a linemen haha but maybe he meant in i dont get out of my stands quick

okay sorry to assume you were a DB. He could still mean that though....just applying to the way you come out of your stance.

That would be my interpretation of it. You should just ask him and be sure.
