Hey, just wondering what body part/s you train on the same day as abs? I do 3 workouts a week - shoulders/legs, back/biceps and chest/triceps. I usually find im too tired after doing them to do my abs properly. Usually i just do a few sets of cable crunches and leg raises when im waiting for a piece of equipment. Thanks

You will get a greater ab workout from core stabilizing movements (mainly deadlifts, squats, etc) than you will from crunches and leg raises.

Secondly, the abs are a muscle. It needs to be progressively overloaded or it will not grow. It also needs a recovery period. Imo, don't think 3 ab workouts/week is necessary.

Kill abs whenever you feel you can give it your all.

The abdominal ROM is so short, nearly ever exercise I see people doing for their "abs" doesn't actually involve their abdominals shortening, but rather movement generated by the hip flexors and back extensors with the abs merely stabilizing, much like they do when doing weight bearing exercises.

I feel more ab involvement during heavy tricep pulldowns and deadlifts than I actually feel during ab exercises.

Welcome back Zir

Plank or bridges what ever you want to call it, are great for core or weighted Crunches I find are good.

But, personally i find my back day takes care of my core.

ok thanks, from the feedback i get the feeling that im working my abs sufficiently from squats etc, albeit not directly. I do like doing cable crunches though, 2 sets of 15 on 95kg really get your abs burning :p
