So latley in the gym, i've been doing just lighter weight, with a lot of reps. But with doing that, I know thats the routine for cutness, but can this make your muscles also grow?

The thing is, I don't really care about being cut, I just want to be "big", (im a little chubby but talking arm wise etc)

And I don't really want to go into the gym and grab a certain weight, and do 5 reps and say jesus can't do this anymore, and not feel like a great workout.

Any tips on what I should do? Mainly looking for tricep, bicep tips.

More reps does not make you more cut. That's one of the biggest myths of the fitness industry.

2-5 for strength
6-12 for size and strength
12+ for endurance

I'm confused, do you want to get cut or gain mass.? doing high reps will not make your muscles grow.. If you want to get big do 5 X 5 ( 5 sets of 5 reps)..

I've tried the 5x5, and it helped me so much on strength, but I never saw that much improvment physically.

I just want to gain some more mass.

Hey Freak, first let me say that I am new to the forum, but I have read a lot of your posts and replies. You seem very knowledgeable on this body building stuff, hence my reason for coming directly to you. I have really small calves, and would really like to make them more defined and grow. I have heard the saying that either you have them or you don't. My dad was a big guy, but he had small calves. I have been working out for about 8yrs, but got side tracked for about 4yrs due to personal reason, I am back now. Any advice on a good routine will be well appreciated.

Hey man Just like freak said.
I took the liberty did a little bit of hunting for you, if you want to read haha
But i suggest to read it should help you out :)

Rep Ranges and Muscle building

The reason I suggest 2-5 instead of 1-5 is because you shouldn't really be doing 1rep maxes - only making yourself really prone for an injury especially when first starting out.

Thanks guys, that article really cleared the myth about what reps works for what gains one might be trying to achieve. With calf muscles being so stubborn, do you all think the same rule applies. I know the calves are divided into fast and slow twitch (red and blue). Any thoughts.
