Olympic lifts are great for athletics. If you use moderately heavy weight and concentrate on the speed at which you're doing the movement (which is really the whole idea behind these lifts) they can help develop POWER, which is technically defined as (force*distance)/time. It can help you develop the ability to move weight at higher velocities which is great for sports. As far as bodybuilding goes I think they are great because they involve a large amount of muscle mass and therefore stimulate a lot of testosterone production/secretion. They are great lifts to incorporate into a monday (or first training day of the week) routine to really get the hormones flying around.
