just finished reading the 'split training - all wrong thread' (man that is long)
anyway basically have two seperate questions....

1st I always try to have at least two compund exercises at the begining of each work out. Legs, Chest, Back & biceps are easy as there are many obvious choices. When i train shoulders i start with standing BB shoulder press (aka military press...?). But thats about as far is it goes. Does any one have any suggestions for compund excersise that use mainly shoulders (obviously not expecting something that isn't going to work anything els other wise its not compound)

2nd Just want to know if any one could reccomend a book, website or video that explains the proper technique of various power lifting exercises. I am familiar with basic deads, squats and a few others but deffinatly need to expand my horizons.

Thanks for any suggestions.

maybe something like high bentover barbell pull. I mean instead of pulling the bar to your stomach to work your back you pull it high close to your neck to work rear delts and this may work your back also... and face pulls, thats not sticking your tounge out as you rep :) but doing a rope row into your face, same it would work your rear delts and back... maybe. compundo?

I've just recently started to incorporate snatchs and clean & jerks into my workout routine, honestly the best thing i have done for my training. Its given me a new vitility for lifting and has for sure helped with increasing overall power and conditioning. Watch some olympic lifters perform the lifts so you understand how to perform them correctly, but the best way i've found to figure them out is to just get in there and do them (start light as with any new movement). Also i've been doing one arm DB swings which are a good one but again are a total body thing and not just shoulders in general.

If you're into powerlifting you should never ever cut. You need to be building strength at all times you can't do that if your eating next to nothing. Shoulder presses, powercleans and push presses are good for shoulders.

I swear by push presses, you can just keep going until you die. Compound excercises are great not only for power, but drastically increasing muscle bulk and mass. Cleans, snatches, deadlifts, various squats are all great...I personally have had great success from following more of a powerlifting routine to bulk up.

Great link btw rob.

I guess I'll have to start push pressing and all the others maybe start training movements instead of body parts.
