I've always heard that it's good to get a lot of sleep, but how much sleep is too much since your body isn't getting any food at night. I usually sleep for about 9 or 10 hours is this too much? I eat cottage cheese immediately before bed and whey first thing in the morning.

Thanks

You're fine man don't worry about catabolism during sleep. For your age 9-10hrs is perfect.

I get 6 or less.. more like 4 avg. Both suck. Both are unhealthy mentally and physically.

Sleep is a vital key to success...recovery is very significant. Take as much as you can get, or need man.

^^I do that too...and Mike, 9-10 hours is perfect for you. You are still going through puberty and you need alot of sleep, it's good for you. Remember, you grow when you sleep. Even if you take a 20 minute power nap, it's great for you.

Alot of people say melatonin bad for me and I really think it's ignorant to say. They don't understand what melatonin is or does, they just think it's a sleeping pill. I take 3mg only on days where I can't fall asleep which is roughly 5 times a month. An added bonus of melatonin is that it has been found to increase GH during sleep, always a good thing, but don't go take it every single night!

Anyone else have any input on melatonin? (sorry to steal thread but I think we've all answered your question mike)

I think if it does 'increase gh' its probably an irrelevant increase.

I take 3mg only when I have trouble sleeping. So not on a regular basis. Our bodies only produce 0.5mg/night.
