Just did shoulders yesterday. I usually go heavy on barbell (185 lbs.) and go lighter on dumbbell (70-80 lb DBs). As you go heavier on DB press, its harder to keep good form, so I leave the mass building to the barbell and try to keep the best form possible on DBs.
I also agree with chris. Do not limit yourself to just BB and DB. Use cables and machines to mix up your routine. I personally love doing leaning side lateral raises with the cables. Awesome isolation.
