Is it ok to do 40 minutes cardio twice a day? I'm 5'8 and 243 lbs.

Well we need more info, whats your bodyfat and diet like? Are you using weights? 80 min of cardio a day to me is way to much.

See what you can lose with a solid calorie intake (probably around 3000kcal for you, yes 3000kcal!) and just the weight training for now.

Add cardio and decrease calories slowly to keep losing bodyfat.

At 31%bf and 243lbs, you've got roughly 75lbs of fat on you. Getting to a lean 10% 186lbs will need shedding of 57lbs of fat. At 1-2lbs per week on average, that's at least 28 weeks. Do you really want to be doing cardio twice a day for 28 weeks?

I suggest tweaking your diet but it looks like your eating less. Less is sometimes worse. Your body goes into survival mode and will store more fat than it burns. You will burn more muscle than fat IMO

No i wouldnt neccesarily suggest it .But thats not what he asked haha.It would be ok as long as his body doesnt tell him hes over doing it.At 243 lbs I doubt them 2 sessions would be real intense. If you are walking on a treadmill or something slowerpaced like that then yes I might would suggest the 2 sessions because of the obesity. He would need the cardiovascular work.
2 full out hard cardio sessions no it would probably be too much for most.

I see. I do think he needs to bring his calories up though.
