On a serious note, I remember watching Sport Science on FSN not too long ago when they tested the effect of making noise while performing a power/strength move. They used a martial artist as the test subject. For the first test (breaking x-amount of bricks) he was allowed to yell when attempting the break. On the second test, he made no noise. He ending up breaking more bricks when allowed to make noise. I vaguely remember the conclusions: the noise causes adrenaline release, allows the muscles to contract fully, allowing for maximum output - something along those lines. Long story short, noise helps power/strength output.
one of the major reason why martial artists scream on contact is so the force that they unleash wont come back at them, but the scream does give that extra push needed.

well that's kind of correct. The force only comes back at them if they do not break all the bricks; making the noise doesn't change this effect at all. If they scream and still don't break every object, the force will still come back. Making the noise is meant to, and helps, generate enough power to actually break every brick/plank/whatever, thus avoiding the backlash. Probably what you meant to say Julio, just needed clarification.

I have had some looks while doing deads at American family, but no one has ever said anything. Of course, I do have on an mp3 player and I am in my own zone.

You've got to be kidding me. Heavy workouts? Concentration curls and leg extensions? Those should never be used in the same sentence unless you are saying; "Concentration curls and leg extensions do NOT constitute a heavy workout."

Please tell me you're kidding.
