Ok so I'm 150lbs now (turning 15 in a month) and I want to put on another 20lbs- most of muscle if possible- by the time I go back to school next year as a sophomore. You guys think it's doable, what would be the best why to go about it.

Been lifting seriously for 7 months.

Thanks.

It would be hard but not completely impossible.Lift heavy with the basic movements.Stya in the 8 rep range. The main thing here is to eat alot but fairly clean.6-8 times a day.Lots of protein filled meat.Lean steak, chicken, tuna, fish and eggs.
For carbs go with whole wheat pasta, brown rice and sweet potatoe.
You can have a few not so good carbs in there too.Regular pasta, white rice and baked potatoes.

It is impossible to put on 20 lbs of muscle in 3.5 months. You can put on a few pounds of muscle and then the water that accompanies it but not 20lbs of solid muscle. You can be 170 and look good by the time you go back to school if that is what you are asking.

If you are going to eat a ton of whites, get the liquid egg whites in a carton, you can buy them at any store. There more efficient cost wise and preparation wise. Usually, I measure out 6 egg whites or so, and then eat 2 whole eggs mixed in with it.

I cook em.

Guys, I don't know if you noticed but he's 14 at the mo, 15 in a month. I doubt he has the hormones to gain 20lbs of muscle at all at this point in time, let alone in 3.5 months. AND he's been lifting for 7 months so any initial gains have probably already happened.

Sorry kid, I hate to be the negative one here. Unless you did a steroid cycle (which you shouldn't at your age!), I don't think you can make it.

Still, you can prove me wrong bud!

P.S. I would also advise NOT going very heavy on deadlifts and squats. Although there isn't any scientific evidence that lifting weights on your spine will stunt growth, I wouldn't recommend it.

Sorry if I mislead but you wont gain 20 lbs of lean muscle in that time period some of it will be fat and as freak said water gain. But it can be a good looking 20 lbs.
I also didnt realize you were 14.So as was said dont go superheavy but it will be ok as long as you stay in the 8-10 rep range

How is it impossible. It's probably not likely but I wouldn't say impossible.

20/.3 = 66.6lbs

Muscle tissue is 70% water. He asked 20lbs of muscle which is nearly 67lbs of weight.

I think he meant 20lbs of Lean Body Mass. I do agree though, 20lbs of LBM in 3 months is very VERY rare for a natural bodybuilder. And at the age of 14/15, the margin for success is even smaller.

MikeNYY420, you can still gain a healthy amount of muscle and if you keep your an eye on your bodyfat levels, you will look great in 3 months.

20lbs LBM is a lot mate. I would expect someone who is 174lbs@10%bf at your height to be squatting/deadlifting for 5RM roughly 260lbs/330lbs respectively and benching/rowing 210lbs.
