Is it better to walk around after doing a heavy set of squat or just sit down? I'm asking because it really hurts when I get to my 3rd and 4th set.

Do both; lean. I feel sitting slows down my heart rate and causes me to get lazy. Leaning keeps me awake, stay focused and ready. All in all, it doesn't much matter. Do whatever suits your rest periods and feels comfortable to you.

walk around.

it'll keep your muscles warm and it'll help begin to dissipate the lactic acid build up if it has reached threshold or is close to it.

Also, sitting may cause your muscle to cramp up and lose the warmth/pump they've gotten from squatting

try and stretch it see if it helps. i stretch between every two or three sets. i don't stretch at the start but at the end of the warm up set.

Only thing with stretching is that it should be done before the sets. It loosens things up and allows more blood into it. If you're stretching btw sets u have a higher chance of injury based on many diff factors

not in between every sets. in a 5 set squat that i might do, i might stretch two times. after the warm up and somewhere later on if i feel tight.

that has a lot to do with the not walking around and staying warm.

Conflicting studies on stretching pre-workout. Some say it decreases power output where maximum power output is needed, some say it doesn't. Also some say static stretching doesn't decrease chances of injury or DOMS.

What are the many different factors? Studies have shown (and I'm sure studies have contradicted) that stretching before or after exercise, or during, does not meaningfully effect post recovery.

If you're looking to stretch, mimic movements that will be done later on. If you cramp sitting down, then walk or stand. Whatever feels comfortable.

stretching with a pump can pull the muscle, you could have injuries from stretching and then squatting, you could possibly pull a tendon , tear a muscle, or unintentionally hurt yourself with stretches and tweak something if they're done btw sets.

I'm going off of what all my KIN books say and what my professors say here so don't quote me on any of it, but from personal experience I've had some of those happen and it's better to stretch before and after if anything
