When should I work out?

alright guys. im still in high school and i just got a new job that im working at full time. the past couple of weeks i havent really had time to go to the gym except on saturday or sunday and my job schedule is not flexible. i have school from 9:00 am until 12:15 pm. and i have work from 1:30 pm until 10:00 pm. i dont know when i should workout because my gym closes at 10:00 pm every night. and going in the morning before school would be kind to both get a good meal in and train during the morning.

i was just wondering if any of you have similar schedules and how you fit it in aorund your daily activities. i used to work out every day after school when i didnt have a job but now i cant really do that.

also im perfectly fine with not making any gains for a while but i've got 7 weeks until school is out and i want to at least try to maintain where im at until then

I know it's rough, but when does your gym open?

You could go to bed at like 1030 and get up at like 630 or 6 even and have a meal, go at 7, and then go to school at 930 and be totally fine.

ok your 18 and in school.. and you have to work until 10pm.. What state are you in, where your allowed to work past 9pm..

some places stay open longer than 9 and their employees work til close or an hour after to shut down the store

im in texas. here it doesn't matter if you're in school. if you're 18 then you can work as much as you want. and besides i like working this much because the more work, the more money. i might try working out in the morning but im a really bad morning person =(

Scientifically speaking, they've done studies and the best time to work out is....(drum roll please)....is that it makes no difference. It's when you feel the strongest.

That said, at 18 I hated working out in the AM. Now, at 26 I love it, and have much less energy and motivation to workout after 12pm. Develop a routine: wake, eat, lift, eat and stick to it for a few weeks. Your body will adjust, and your in-workout focus will increase. Plus, dopamine, the neurotransmittor responsible for drive and desire, is highest in the morning.
