Is it worth it to bother to do 1 or 2 reps with really heavy weight? I'm thinking of shrugging 160 lbs [a 80 lb DB in each hand]... I'm used to about 120 max on my DB shrugs. Would the 160 be good to shock the body, keep it guessing, or no?

Not on a continuous basis unless your powerlifting but every once in a while when Im trying to improve my bench Ill go for a 1 rep max or attempt a weight I know I cant do but with the help of a spotter. Sometimes I it a mental roadblock.
ive never really maxed out with something like shruggs, usually just compound movements like bench, squats, etc. i dont see why not though really, just like teamorbit said, dont do it on a continuous basis
Ok thanks guys. I usually try to shock the muscles every 5th or 6th workout on that particular body part. Like on Monday when I do chest and bis I'll do it but then not again till next next next week's Monday's chest and Bi workout.

haha I'm not offended at all man. I'm actually impressed somebody asked me to post a pic of it. Most people take just look at it and go "oh cool". I like a challenge. I appreciate it actually
