ive got everything down pat for my cut, i just don't understand what happens to my weights?
do i keep reps and everythign the same as usual? won't i be sore?,
i heard going low reps, with max weight is better for cutting and if you do higher reps with submaximal weight you can lose muscle mass, help please :)?

chest, back, and shoulders stay with the same weight. like he say, decrease rest time. but for me, arm workout is with near max with 12reps pause for 5 secs. w/ 3 more reps. and alot of cardio. and diet.

depends on what youre doing now I personally like to keep reps between 10-12 when cutting with minimal rest

kk thanks for that guys, i think im all good for diet I just read that thread on cutting by layne and its brilliant, i was just thinking that i would stay sore due to caloric deficit if I maintain the same weights.. maybe cut down excercises if this occures?

i dont understand this

if your going to the gym to gain mass, you go all out balls to the wall 100% intensity

usually my rest times are longer because im so beat from the weight

so when your cutting how are you suppose to squeeze out 12-15 reps with the same weight utilizing less rest time, if you can only go 8-10 max when bulking?

from what i understand your supposed to lighten the weight a bit but decrease resting times, and use 12 - 15 reps

why lighten the weight purposely?

I mean I can understand it when u have to due to depletion and not having the big time carbs there, but doing it before that to start the cut doesn't make sense to me. I figure balls to the walls all the time.

"I figure balls to the walls all the time."

i agree with this totally

im not sure if you understand my question though

here's an example :

let's say you pick up a pair of 70 lb. dumbbells.

for every set you do, you can only squeeze out 8-9 reps.
(keep in mind this is supposed to be on a bulking period)

so if you're cutting weight, i don't see how you can do 12-15 reps with a pair of 70 lb. dumbbells if you couldn't even do that on a bulking period.

i mean if you can than more power to ya

it just sounds kinda contradictive to me

sorry if im confusing you lol

Im thinking he means, do the heaviest weight you can for the rep range of 10-12 reps.
At least thats what I gathered.
If your doing 70lbs at around 8 reps on bulking. Then my guess would be drop to like 50-55lbs and see if that puts you in the 12-15 rep range maxed out for cutting.

I see no point in dropping weight unless it's necessary due to not having the carbs and water that you have during bulking. if u need to drop weights, drop them slightly but keep the reps and sets about the same, just decrease the rest periods

I would assume that the cutting period revolves more around your diet than your weights, if I need to drop the weight just a bit to accomodate my rep range along with the shorter rest periods- makes sense to me, but not a 20 lb decrease just to breeze through my workout, balls to the wall sounds about right.

I wasnt necessarily saying to automatically drop 20lbs. I was just replying to mumble2mumbles post. He was asking how your gonna keep the same weight that your doing with 8 reps and be able to start doing 12-15 reps.

It was all hypathetical in response to his question.

Thats the only way your could do that many more reps if your using the maximum workout weight at 8 reps and going to 12-15 reps. You would definitely have to drop the weight down.

If your already doing higher reps I would definitely just keep the weight the same.

exactly

i was just sayin' it makes sense to lighten up the weight to the point where you can perform 12-15 reps with little resting periods (going 100% of course)
