I would say if you are just starting out, 3 Days a week, and each session no longer than 1-1.5 hrs. Let your body adapt to working out, remember that Diet is really important, You want to eat good quality food, dense in carbs, protein, and healthy fats.

Starting out you will probably tend to take longer rest periods in between sets without noticing, but try to keep it under 90 mins overall.

Wow disagree the longest anyone should be doing a weight workout is an hour. I train my entire leg in oe day and that will take me an hour and a half since it is so taxing. dont forget you just want to get in get your stuff done. the real growth process is in the nutrition and rest so dont waste your time in the gym don't get caught up talking to people. I train i am there for one thing to accomplish the goal at hand. nothing will keep me from it and no one can stop me i am in the zone and nothing can break it. as a beginner for three days a week i suggest and chest and back day a leg day and an a shoulder and arm day then after awhile start doing for day and seperate the chest and back and add bicep to chest so it looks like this chest bicep then leg then back then shoulder tricep but dont have to do it in that order do what works for you
