i am going to start a new arm routine tomarrow but am not sure if i should do hammer curls instead of regular curls. here is what i was thinking for my new routine

straight bar curls 4 sets 8-10
preacher curls 3 sets 8-10
hammer curls or regular curls 3 sets 8-10

hammers work more the brachioradialis, coracobrachialis, and some of the forearms. It rarely works the biceps

I wouldn't say rarely work them, I love hammer curls, I think they bring out the fullness and completness of my biceps... they still work biceps, just not as much as any other kind of bicep exercise. Nevertheless, there's no other day I would put them on other then bicep day. My opinion would to be to switch up the curls, from hammer to normal every week.

Zack - sit infront a desk and move your arm into a hammer-position under the desk. Exert force upward like your curling it, and with the other hand feel your bicep... they work biceps more then you think

Biceps are a small muscle and they really don't do as much as people think.

They're great for looks, and they do work for a great deal of the curls, but the major powerhouse of the curling motions has to definitely be the brachialis over anything.

yeah hammer curls really are for trimming down that little part between for forearm and your bicep so you get that nice peak i usually mix up hammer curl in my sets just to work that out and instead of wasting an excercise like arm curls for that i usually do hammer concentration curls nice and slow holding the peak contraction and it works for me

hammer curls are for building the brachialis even more than it already is.

look at gunter's arm. they're a great part of his arm. people know him for his brachialis.

it's a key component in people's success or failure

Yeah They aint as effective for biceps than regular curls, but like Zack said, its better for the brachiallis and forearms muscles, your arm is supinated so it wont focus on the Bis as much
