I know when I have time after a workout (first make sure you always cool down properly with a brisk walk for 4-5 minutes) I like to jack the heat up in the shower then slowly turn the temperature down until its really cold.

Not sure physiologically the benefits, probably has something to do with vessel dilation, core temperature or venous return.

It helps to cool you down and de-dilate the veins.

It also helps toughen up the body because it gives your body a certain extreme. This lets you have better performance in certain climates due to being used to the extremes already

I think you mean contrast showers Red? The hot periods of the shower are for vaso-dilation, while the cold are for vaso-constriction to improve circulation.

why would you want to de-dialate your veins?

ive read that Brock Lesnar takes ice baths after his training. its a good way to get your body used to extreme conditions and take your body to another level but personally i like to have a hot bath after a workout. + isnt there a risk of Hyperthermia when taking an ice bath?
