hey guys

lately ive been in the gym struggling with dips

ive been able to squeeze out about 10 reps without weights...lol

but that was because i did them last after my whole chest workout.

would you guys suggest doing them first or second on chest day??

i can actually do weighted dips if i havent pre-exhausted my chest with other exercises

lemme know what you guys think

peace!

to warm up i'd do them first. to finish out chest and triceps it'd be a good idea to them second imo. It just depends what u wanna do with them.

Do what you like. Maybe spend a month doing them last then a month doing them first. Both bench press and dips are great upper body exercises. Dips are one of my favourite exercises, pity my new gym doesn't have any dip bars

Dips are an excellent finishing movement. Many pros and aspiring bodybuilders alike use them this way. It really hits the whole chest really well. Pre exhaustion is good but in MY workout I tend to find them better suited at the end when my muscles are working harder to get that extra rep or two. Great mass builder for chest and tri's. If you wanna pre-exhaust your chest try flies or incline flies. They seem to work well

Its pretty much a personal preference. Which ever muscle you wanna work harder will depend on whether you do them first or at the end.

I figure this. If i train with them last, i wont have to add a ridiculous amount of weight to the belt to get a full blast. I also can fail on dips and not kill myself.

No one looks dumb if they are doing dips without weight. You look pretty silly if you struggle to lift a single plate on each side of the barbell on bench.

Ego thing? Sure, but im just telling it like it is.

For the record, i am avoiding dips completely from here on out because of me continually tweaking my lower back doing them. :(

Probably my favorite exercise, ever.
I only do them for triceps, though.
I can pull off 10+ reps with 70 pounds added. I usually do them second on my triceps routine. I'd probably put them near last in my chest routine.

I would do your hardest and heaviest exercise 1st, dips would be a 2nd or 3rd exercise for me, last thing I want is to be dead tired and have some heavy ass weights stuck on my chest.

dips are for mostly tris... if you want to continue doing them on chest days... do them assisted. theres no shame in that...
