Ever tweak your lower BACK on dips?

Because i do it alot. Anyone else have this problem? Its an issue that has made me HATE the dip bars, but i find im pretty good at doing the lift just for some reason, i keep tweaking my back here and there.

And the worst part is, i can feel it get tweaked before i even get off the bars. So i know its something to do with the form i use.

Tightening your back and arching, sure when you push up I used to notice that a lot back when I worked out before, maybe do a couple light sets of low back stretches before dips?

Forgot to add you might try different leg positions when you do it like knees bent up or legs out see if it helps balance you some.

Hrmmm. Ill give that a go. I really push hard on the dips.

Im trying to watch what i do from here on out. Ill try different leg placements and everything. Thanks for the advice man.

Well, some advice from Red was to basically stop doing the exercise if its the only one that aggravates this issue. And, it seems to be. So, over the break im going to try to see a doc and for now, dips are no longer and option.

are you using wieghts. maybe place the bely somewhere else on your back

I did one set without weights (where i tweaked my back), and one set with 20 lbs (felt fine, no tweak). I think having weight forces me to have better form.

I think the only time I had something similar happen was the first 2 or 3 times I tried dips a few years ago but that's about it.
