Just curious, how many of you started with measly calves and have built them up?? What did you train them doing?

Me personally, I went from about 13 inch to 16 so FAR, unfortunetly I started with very small calves, its aggrevating because i have HUGE ankles to go with it.
I myself have done 6-8 total sets, splitting it between, Seated calf press and Angled leg press calf raises.

every 5 weeks I change my rep range ( Not only with calves, but with ever exercise) AND I change my primary exercise.

so..

Discuss?

Full ROM, hold stretch at bottom for 15 seconds... 3 sets of 8-12 to failure.

I do nothing specifically at the moment and they sit at about 18". They were up near 19 when I quit playing soccer about 5 years ago.

Weight training doesn't seem to make them any bigger, they just grow when I do a lot of running or walking. Just a consequence of being heavy I guess.

I have round calves and i would love to have diamond shaped ones!!!! i hold the stretch for about 3 seconds.. i use both heavy and light weights, short and high reps! works best for me.. calves consists both of fast and slow twitch fibres so you gotta stimulate both

Run steps, and then donkey raises with huge weight- the running pre-exhausts them so you get a wicked burn. ONLY 2 times a week, bro!

I just started and I like standing calf raises, trying to keep my balance seems to make it harder than sitting, I also do it in my slippers, they bend easy and you feel the movement in the foot really good.
