I personally do not believe so. I find it really hurt my rotators and you can do some isolation exercises instead since its not exactly a mass building exercise

Yeah, they're fine. Include them in your workout, to switch things up a bit. I do them very soon, when I switch my exercises as well.

Up right rows should be a basic workout (like flat bench, deads, etc) for everyone, I personally believe.

If you find they hurt you to much then I would say either lay off or go lighter, but lighter isn't an option in my book.

Great workout and you need to perform them correctly or else you will really hurt yourself.

Good Luck,
TheWall

Read this thread bro Upright rows... good/bad/otherwise Its pretty much the same question and should help alot. You will need to make up your mind on if to do them or not because they have very mixed opinions.

If the exercise hurts your shoulders too much, widen your grip. It'll take less stress off of your rotator cuffs. It hits more of the lateral deltoids, as well.
I usually always do wide-grip upright rows, otherwise they'll hurt my shoulders.
