Violence solves nothing. It's just resorting to base animal instincts. Respect is the ultimate solution. If we respected people as individuals and helped those who struggled then we'd be in a much better world. Pretty much everyone here is respectful to each other and, oh look, it's a great place to visit and communicate with others.

While violence may be the way things have always been, I think it's obvious that it hasn't really worked now has it.

Unfortunately, the showing Respect solution is likely to never happen. Too many people like to look down on others or just sit there doing nothing, afraid other people will call them weak or gay because they're daring to do something positive.

If it were the easy solution everyone would be doing it. But they're not. It's easy for some but for others it's incredibly difficult overcoming that basic desire to pound on anyone you don't like. Just because it's hard doesn't mean it's impossible. It's the same as bodybuilding, you can't get those muscles without a little sacrifice and discipline. And when you get there it feels great, and you want to help others get there too; because you know it's not impossible and you also know firsthand how it feels to finally get there.

Just a quick edit to go back on topic. Mastering the ability to flex muscles at will was a big part of the old time bodybuilding programs.

Alright lets dig a little deeper:where you from,Europe,US?if it wasnt for wars and industrialization you wouldnt be typing shit,in fact you wouldnt be working out,you'd be doing your best to feed your family.
Industrialization:started in england to make life easier,yes it did come in great bloodshed and lots of violence following it,but look where we live in right now,you can persue your dreams(doesnt matter what),you can do pretty much whatever you want,and your saying violence doesnt solve anything?

Yes, ultimately it doesn't solve anything. But you are right, if it wasn't for wars and industry I would be worrying about important things such as feeding family but also enjoying life that much more. Instead I'm part of an emotionally unfilling culture obsessed with sex, celebrity and technology. I'd be much happier living a life of peace and fulfillment instead of worrying about HD TV's and will that woman like me if I don't have a six-pack. Just because we can have the dream of becoming a movie star doesn't make it a great thing.

I recommend listening to some Bill Hicks or reading Fight Club.

Violence is one of mans basic human reactions, same with love, depression, anxiety, and any other emotion. It's man's ability to balance them that seperates us from animals.

In retrospect, violence for violence sake doesn't solve anything, it might bring back a sense of chaos for some people but for the most part unjustified or wrongly justified violence is looked down upon.

But violence does have some good outcomes, the whole reason we were in space was because America's agenda against communism and vice versa.

The reason you were in space was because of cold war and USSR and US "flexing their muscles" with weapons(nukes,chemical,biological,etc),they went to space so that they could nuke each other faster and more precisely.The only times that nukes were used were in WW2 in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.Right now its just a guarantee that nobody will mess with the one that got it.

i thought NASA went to space just to try and prove that they were more technologically advanced that Russia. thats what the cold war was...America and Russia competing which led to them both being paranoid that one was going to attack the other...thats why the Cuban Missile crisis was such a big deal

And the whole reason the US was competing against Russia was because of the Truman Doctrine which basically stated that US policy was to contain the spread of communism. The cuban missile crisis was such a big deal because cuba is essentially a communist country under the direct sphere of influence of America that was harboring nuclear weapons from Russia.

There were no real fights going on between the USSR and the US, but they participated in proxy battles. And the paranoia started before the arms race. The whole thing that started it was a mix between everyone knowing that the US succesfully developed and used the first nuclear weapons, and the US's lack of knowledge of Russian troop count and power.

I'm pretty sure that Russia and the allies weren't on good terms years before the war even. The only reason they wound up working together was because Germany decided to double cross Russia during the war.

as far as govts. motavation is for anything I have leaned to never take anything at face value. Communism terrorism could very well be scare tactics to keep public off balance while a true agenda gets carried out in secrecy so speculation of how or why we do anything is very suspect. Hows that for a paranoid conspiracy theory.
