Ankle weights make you heavier, so when you run your legs will seem heavier making it more difficult to run enstilling the idea you're working harder. These are a bad idea as they will more likely damage your knees and ankles. go with a weighted vest. It's more expensive, but you can add/subtract weight at will, whereas the ankle weights have a set weight that cannot vary. Wrist weights are generally more for pilates, aerobics, dance-arobics, etc. They are like very small dumbells that you don't have to hold onto to use them. They're a good idea if you're a boxer, but if you really are a boxer, chances are you'll do better with a dumbell because with a tighter grip, your flexor and forearm stabilizer muscles will become stronger making your punches harder and more precise. Neither of these are really useful in the gym, but are more for aerobic type exercises like pilates to help muscles that normally wouldn't get a workout...get a workout. |
