Hey guys, I'm having trouble developing that connection you see between the two pecs, I got a damn valley when I want them to touch. It sucks because my chest is friggen big for my body. Also its not really developed near my delts. I was told military press and incline dumbell press can help that so ive been doin them more often, going to give them time to see if they work. But for the inner chest Ive been told to do pec deck, and flys and Ive never seen a result. Any advice would be cool. Also would weight be a huge factor in developing these spots?''

Chest shape is genetic. You can try to do flyes and crossovers with an emphasis on contracting at the peak of the movement to try to get more of the inner chest going, but i'm not sure how much help that will be.

Incline presses for upper chest, yes.

agreed.... chest shape is usually decided on genetics and not the technique of training. But dont get me wrong, proper form is still important.

Close grip benchpress takes the pressure off of the chest and places it on the arms mostly. I don't see why that would help with the inner chest.

So everyone who has a developed chest got it genetically? Ill continue to do the close grip exercises but Im getting a massive upper middle chest, not really that pec to pec connection I was aiming for. I was thinking maybe theres some other exercise for chest that makes that area appear to be connected... ANd Ill try and start going the crossovers a lot more with my hands overlapping and squeezing maybe that will help?

The chest is a muscle, the inner chest contracts with the rest of the chest. Where on your body the bone and muscle meet determine the shape. What are your stats? As you get larger the size of your chest might help to fill in the gap.

Go for a tight squeeze with the crossovers, like a big hug. Muscle shape from person is very similar, yes, but there are always variations and different muscles that stand out more.

Thanks, yeah Im going to try and really concentrate on that squeeze for now on, I was always thinking it would develop with the overall bench and incline bench exercise. My Lower/outer pec development is good so I never focus on them intentionally. I even do more inclined chest exercises for this reason. Kinda odd.

HAHA, yeah basically I do flat bench, then either incline bench or incline flys and i swap it up, flat db flys, close grip db press, cable crossovers from the top middle and bottom, then pushups if im not tired. I hate doing regular bench since I cant get 225lbs more than 5 times without help when everyone else I lift with can. But yeah Im going to throw in more heavy weight flys since people seem to agree those are best for what i need.
