what do any of you think about two a days for the same body part? for example.... ( CHEST) maybe 2 or 3 compound movements in the morning( like bench , and incline), then in the evening, maybe finishing up with some isolation movements like flies, and pull overs ect.... does any one think this would be effective. i ask because i am having trouble finding a whole consecutive hour at the gym, but i can find two , thirty minute to forty five minute sessions. any advantages, or disadvantages to splitting the day up? - 42gunz

also ....im trying to train for size and strength

I took care of the double thread Chris. There is nothing being gained by working same body part 2x/day.

30 minutes should allow for 10-15 sets to be done for chest. 15 if you take a 1 minute break inbetween 1 minute sets.

you say you have 30 and even sometimes 45 mins for a workout. that should be plenty of time to get the job done... you could even add some triceps at the end of the chest workout!!

That depends on how Stressing you are on your muscles, of course if your moving heavy tungent weight you would need slightly more. Less weight requires less time, hence 1 minute.

so back to my original question...keep in mind thirty minutes at the gym is changing and warming up too. so....my lifting time may be as short as 20 minutes. so would it help me,, or hurt, me , or be the same either way. if im tyring to go heavy, with about 2 to 3 minutes in between sets. i will not have enough time to get a complete work out in 20- 25 minutes. will it hurt me if i break the work out up, and do it through out the day? i guess i should have phrased my original question better

i like to spend anywhere from an hour to an hour and half at the gym, thats not including trying to get in some cardio. well right now im at a time in my life where i dont have the luxury to work out so long, however i would like to still build as much muscle as possible, and gain strentgh.....so my question is... if i need to break the work out up through out the day becaus ei dont have time to do it all at once...would it hurt my gains...im saying for instance...if i went to the gym in the morning and did 2 exercises for chest, and then later on in the evening, do two more and maybe add in some thing else...like triceos or cardio....would breaking up the work out hurt my gains? i think all exercise would be accumulative, dont you...i know cardio is. i know a thirty minute session is ample time to complete a work out , but thats not my question - 42 gunz

Ok I understand what you are asking. Might have to defer this one to Layne but to go out on a limb I am going to say that you probably aren't going to have as high of intensity or blood rushing to the muscle.

You must have one hectic schedule to have to break it up like that. At the end of the day it is not very efficient time wise to break it up.
