Could someone care to share some knowledge on the disadvantages of having un-worked and/or weak Abs?

Your abs also help to support your back.

Thats a first!Sounds like something a jealous fat man would say lol j/k bro
Your lower back pain could be do to underworked abs but also might need to start building the lower back a little.
Good abs help support your back, posture and its like a core muscle that helps almost with every excersise.Try to do any excersise w/o tightening your abs.
Good strong abs are benefecial in many ways.
Oh yeah they also help attract the opposite sex too. lol

Even if they dont show like a 6 pack it helps for them to be strong. That sounds like a good way to start Mygeeto I train them 4-5 times a week 3 sets 3 different excersises but I also like to compete so I have to hit them extra hard.My lower back pain has deminished quite a bit since i started really focusing on my abs.

working out your abs, helps with posture, gives your entire body a better look, helps with your core exercises as said above (dips, pushups, pullups), decreases proneness to injury, and supports your entire upper body structure.

Abs are really important to work on. Especially with any left and right rotation on your body, and with heavy weights you need as much extra support on whatever you do.
