I've been training seriously for about 6months now, and during that time I've increased from 40kg to 80kg on bench press. The last two months I have pretty much been stuck on 80kg. I'm wondering if maybe I'm overtraining. Here is my set-up:

Monday
Chest, Triceps and Shoulders

Tuesday
Back and biceps

Wednesday
Rest / Cardio

Thursday
Chest, Triceps and Shoulders

Friday
Back and biceps

Saturday
Chest, Triceps and Shoulders

Sunday
Back and biceps / Rest

Every time i train I try to lift as heavy weights as possible (with 3x12 reps) and I do about 3 different exercises (each with 3x12 or 3x10) per muscle-group (like 3 for chest, 3 for triceps and 3 for shoulders).

i think you are. try changing your split to a 4 or 5 day. ill rearrange it for you, and try to keep some of the muscle groups together. but you will have to move some of them. plus you need another day of rest IMO...and TRAIN LEGS

Monday: Chest/ Tri's
Tuesday: Back/Bi's
Wed: Shoulders/Traps
Thurs: OFF COMPLETELY
Fri:Legs
Saturday: Calves/forearms/ possibly another bi and tri day.
Sunday: OFF

Is there any point in training legs besides getting muscles in them? :P ..because I don't care too much about the legs, I wanna focus on the upper-body.
What does "Traps" mean btw? And on saturday, do you mean i should do bi & tri on the same day?

yes there is a point in traning legs. how old are you by the way? if you fail to train your legs, not only will you look stupid (and be top heavy) and have toothpicks for legs, but your body will not develop proportionally and not be able to do certain exercises. FOR EXAMPLE: one of the keys to a wide back, is deadlifting. However, deadlifting recruits numerous lower back, glute, hamstring, quad muscles. these muscles all are used in leg exercises. You gain these by doing hack squats, leg press, squats, romanian deadlifts etc. If you do NOT want to do these, you will not be able to deadlift ****. therefore, your back won't look very good. You see my friend, it has a domino effect. If you don't train legs, you hinder the overall improvement of your physique. and you become one of those dbags that everyone hates in the gym who only trains upperbody. no women wants a man with toothpick legs. when she grabs you during her moment of ecstasy, she wants to feel some meat, not bitch muscles.

so in short, train legs. suck it up, and you'll know your a man among boys when you can barely walk out of the gym after a good leg day. its up to you, i can't make you train them.

oh and the picture below is where your traps are. NOTE: this is not me.

oh and yes...yet another good reason to train legs.

Science has proven that leg training releases a substantially higher amount of Growth Hormone (GH) than other exercises. When you squat, it releases more. therefore, why would you not want to squat? If you know it is good for you, than why would you not do it? If a girl asked you to pick up her book in the hallway, and you knew she would have sex with you after.. would you say no? basically the same thing.

You are overtraining for sure. IMO shoulder, chest and back should never be done back to back because you are putting too much presure on one of the most fragile joints in the body(the shoulder/ rotator cuff) for too many days in a row. In addition to everything the previous post stated about legs they also are the largest muscle group in the body and when tarined release a lot of test which will help the rest of the body grow. Here is sample of my tarining split

Day1 Chest
Day2 Legs
Day3 Back(include Deadlifts)
Day4 Rest
Day5 Shoulders
Day 6 Arms
Day 7 Rest

I also dont believe in doing Chest/Tris or Back/Bis because whatever you train last is being neglected. If you want to do a 4 day split do Chest/Bi's and Back/Tri's.
This is what works for me. Good Luck bro and keep us posted on your progress.

Just completed my first leg-workout, man was it heavy and tiering.. Did only do three different exercises thou with 3 sets of 12 reps in each (legpress, leg-curl and something like "front-side-legcurl"). Thanks for all the quick replies btw! ;D
