Well, first of all you were doing lunges for shoulders. Second of all, you probably lunged too far and pulled something from the weight put in the muscle. Third, lunges work best with a barbell across your shoulders.

EASY answers:
A) You forgot to warm-up
B) You were dehyrdated
C) Too much weight
D) shoulders with lunges?!?

Thats it.

Maybe he means doing db presses whilst doing lunges, you know the kinda crap you see the trainers prescribing all the time.

That's not entirely true, lunges work just as well with dumbbells as using a barbell

not entirely true....easier to balance a barbell on ur shoulders than dbells in ur hands.... also u can go heavier with barbells than dumbells.... i walked lounged this morning with 200lbs barbell on my back would be much more difficult holding 100lbs dbells.....

I completley agree with blacktaboo... I you want to go heavy on lunges and you're using heavy dumbells, eventually your grip will give in.

I prefer lunging with dumbells
